The word card
The word card brings together pronunciation, meanings and usage examples. The same written form can have different readings, each with its own meanings and audio. Choose the card you need when adding a word: identical characters do not always mean the same word.
Meanings and usage
The part of speech helps you understand a word's role in a sentence. When a word has several meanings, the card separates them and explains usage. Its general translation may not fit every sentence; compare it with the examples.
Nouns may have measure words with examples. Open an example to read it in detail and listen to it. A missing section means its data has not been filled in yet.
Another reading
This section shows the same written form with different pinyin, meanings and examples. Its audio belongs to that reading. Adding it creates a separate entry in your dictionary if you do not already have it.
Your personal changes
You can set your own translation, add tags or write your own examples. These changes belong to your dictionary. Use Already know and Return to learning in the word menu to mark a familiar word or put it back into review.
