HSK 2.0 or HSK 3.0?

The main Tomyo course is based on HSK 2.0. Words are grouped into six levels, and daily sessions use this scale. HSK 3.0 has not replaced it in the course, even if you have seen a label for the new standard on a dictionary page.

What the course uses today

Choosing an HSK level in Tomyo means choosing a level in the HSK 2.0 course. It sets the range of words for your sessions. The HSK level article explains how to choose a level and move to the next one.

Standard version and course level

HSK 2 in settings means the second level, and HSK 3 means the third. These numbers are not standard versions. Choosing the third level does not switch your course to HSK 3.0.

Why you may see HSK 3.0

Public dictionary pages already include reference information from the new standard, including levels for individual word meanings. These labels do not mean that your course or daily sessions have switched to HSK 3.0.

What comes next

Support for HSK 3.0 in the Tomyo course is in development.

What to do if…

I am not sure which version I am studying

The main course uses HSK 2.0. Your level setting determines the material within that version of the standard.

A word meaning has a different HSK level

Check which standard the page label refers to. The reference level for a meaning in HSK 3.0 can differ from the word level used in the current HSK 2.0 course.
