Knowledge
Knowledge is the My progress tab that shows how much of your level’s material you already know, how much is being reinforced and how much lies ahead — separately for words, grammar and radicals. Under each card you can see how many reviews are left until the next Known and when the nearest one is.
Where to find it
On the website, the More button next to the level rings on the home screen opens My progress straight on this tab. In the apps the same button opens the screen on Dynamics, and Knowledge is the neighbouring tab.
Which level is shown
The tab shows your HSK level. Once all the official words of your level are in your dictionary and the next level opens, a level switcher appears. Levels below yours are not shown here.
Summary
The top card shows how many items are currently being reinforced — that is, in Learning across words, grammar and radicals together. They move to Known after successful reviews. If nothing is being reinforced, the card reads “Everything started is already mastered”.
Words, grammar, radicals
The three cards work the same way. The bar is split into three parts: Known, Learning and Ahead — level material you have not started yet, or that fell back to the start after mistakes. Statuses that are still at zero are not shown.
The main number is how much you know out of all the level’s material. While nothing is Known yet, the card shows how much you are learning instead, so you do not stare at a zero at the start.
On the website a percentage sits in the corner of the card — the share of the level you have started: Known and Learning together. It grows with every new word, rule or radical and does not change when started material moves to Known.
When material becomes Known
- A word — when it climbs to one of the two top stages. After a mistake it can drop back.
- A grammar rule — after the first correct answer, and it stays Known after that.
- A radical — after two correct answers in a row; a mistake returns it to Learning. You can also set a radical’s status by hand.
How much is left until Known
Under the bar is a hint about the next step: how many correct reviews the material closest to Known still needs, and when its nearest review is — today, tomorrow or on a specific date. If something becomes Known right after the next review, the hint says how many items that is.
Once all of a card’s material is Known, the hint is replaced by “All level material mastered”.
