Dynamics

Dynamics is the My progress tab about how you study: on which days, how much you answered, how your vocabulary grows and at what time of day you usually learn. The period — week, month or all time — is switched in the header and changes the tab’s blocks at once.

Where to find it

My progress opens from the More button next to the level rings on the home screen. Dynamics is one of the tabs next to Journey and Knowledge; in the apps the screen opens straight on it.

Period

The Week, Month and All time switch exists only on this tab. Week and month are the last seven and thirty days including today, not a calendar week or month.

All time starts from your first sessions, but even for a beginner the calendar shows several months so the grid does not look empty. If you have been studying for more than a year, all time covers the last year.

Activity

A calendar where each cell is a day. The more answers that day, the stronger the colour. Hover over a cell or tap it to see the number of answers.

A day counts as active if it has at least one answer on words, grammar or writing. Below the calendar is how many such days the period has.

The line with the flame is your streak: how many days in a row you have studied, and your record. The streak does not break until today is over: if you have not studied yet today, it counts from yesterday.

Period summary

Four numbers for the selected period: answers, new words, active days and word accuracy. On Week and Month an arrow appears next to a number — how much more or less than in the same-length period before it.

Accuracy counts word answers only. While there are few answers, a dash stands in for the percentage: a handful of answers says nothing.

Vocabulary growth

The chart shows how many words you have taken into study, cumulatively. A word gets here after your first answer on it in a session, not when it is added to your dictionary.

This is not a curve of learned words: Tomyo keeps no record of when a word moved to Known. Instead, below the chart you can see how all started words are spread right now: Know, Learning and New.

Daily load

The bars show how many answers each day had, split into words, grammar and writing. If the period is longer than a few months, the bars become weekly. Radicals and phrase practice are not counted in the load chart or the calendar.

When you study

The ring shows what time of day your sessions happen — night, morning, afternoon or evening — and which time is most frequent for you. The card appears once you have enough sessions for the split to mean something.

What to do if…

I studied, but the day is empty in the calendar

Most likely that day had no answers on words, grammar or writing — for example, you only practised phrases or radicals. Another possible cause is the time zone: days follow Moscow time.

There is no load chart

The selected period has no answers at all. Switch to Month or All time.

The tab is empty and suggests starting a session

That is how Dynamics looks before your first word answer. Complete a session and the calendar, vocabulary growth and accuracy will appear.
