Cultural hint

In China, WeChat works as a business card, payment tool, and booking channel. Exchanging QR codes is normal. If your Chinese is weak, ask people to write text: 请打字发给我 (qǐng dǎzì fā gěi wǒ - “please send it to me in writing”). The phrase 我加你了，麻烦通过一下 (wǒ jiā nǐ le, máfan tōngguò yíxià - “I added you; please approve it”) is a standard polite reminder to approve a friend request.
