Rule structure

幸亏 (xìng kuī) (xìngkuī), 幸好 (xìng hǎo) (xìnghǎo) and 好在 (hǎozài) introduce a fortunate circumstance: "fortunately, luckily, it's good that". 幸亏 (xìng kuī) (xìngkuī) and 幸好 (xìng hǎo) (xìnghǎo) often form a frame with 不然 (bùrán) or 否则 (fǒuzé), naming the bad result that was avoided. 幸亏 (xìng kuī) (xìngkuī) tends to refer to the past and is slightly more formal; 幸好 (xìng hǎo) (xìnghǎo) is neutral and colloquial; 好在 (hǎozài) stresses "it's good that this exists". 不然 (bùrán) is more colloquial, 否则 (fǒuzé) more formal.
