Rule structure

When talking about family, friends, or close people, (de) is often omitted: 我妈妈 (wǒ māma) — my mom, 你朋友 (nǐ péngyou) — your friend. With ordinary objects, (de) is usually kept: 我的书 (wǒ de shū) — my book.
